Step beyond the clinical analysis of
body alignment into an integrated view by learing to listen to the
story of your client’s body. In this workshop we will look at ways
to evaluate clients physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Participants will learn techniques to compare differences in
physical and emotional holding in posture and movement and to assess
the soft tissue of the body in terms of physical, energetic and
emotional resistance. Exercises will be used to experience
connections within our own bodies to better understand our clients.
Discussion and lecture will be used to examine beliefs systems that
keep both clients and therapists stuck in limiting patterns.

Low back and/or hip pain are a concern
that clients frequently bring to their massage therapists. Often the
present episode is an acute stage of a chronic problem. Because many
therapists avoid working the abdomen and addressing the anterior
muscles of the back they neglect a vital link in the obstacle course
of discomfort and compensation patterns.
This advanced workshop takes the mystery out of low back and hip
function while approaching the client with care, respect and
confidence. Participants will learn hands-on techniques for the
iliopsoas and explore compensation patterns in related muscles. The
anatomy and physiology of the pelvis and its relationship to the hip
and low back will be reviewed in terms of posture, movement,
exercises and stretches.
Cancellation Policy is as follows:
- Full refund OR credit for upcoming class is given if instructor must cancel the workshop for any reason.
- Full refund is given for cancellation by participant 30 days prior to the class.
- 1/2 refund is given for cancellation by participant if notification is between 1 and 3 weeks from scheduled class.
- No refund is given to those participants that cancel the week of class or are a no-show the day of class.
Per NCBTMB guidelines participants must attend entire class to receive specified continuing education hours.
